ActiveViam & CalypsoIt’s my pleasure to announce that ActiveViam and Calypso Technology have partnered to embed our product ActivePivot within the Calypso offering.

I’m particularly happy about this partnership because I feel that Calypso and ActiveViam have much in common. 20 years ago, Calypso created a high-volume transaction system written entirely in Java, much to the skepticism of the rest of the finance software industry. 10 years later we faced the same skepticism when we set out to write in Java too our own high-volume analytics platform, but we overcame and now both companies have become widely recognized in their respective fields for their technological excellence.

Large heaps and Java 9 at Devoxx on April 6th 2017

Devoxx France 2017This coming April, we will be at Devoxx Paris once again for a presentation (in French) titled “Java 9 à la poursuite des grands heaps”.

Romain Colle, head of the ActivePivot and ActiveMonitor R&D team at ActiveViam, will present how ActiveViam partnered with the Java team at oracle to greatly improve the G1 garbage collection algorithm in Java 9. We will also detail how these innovations enabled us to run an actual, functioning Java application on several TB of memory. Read more

Last week I took part in the 4th “Impact of Fundamental Review of the Trading Book” conference in London, and I would like to share with you some feedback and insight we gathered on this occasion. The conference was well attended by European and Japanese banks, with high-level executives and engineers from risk management and modelling teams. American banks however were conspicuously absent.
