ActiveViam Webinar – April 26 2017: “Cloud deployment and scale-out architecture in ActivePivot 5.5”
On April, 26 we will host two 30-minute live webinars where we will unveil two key new innovations introduced in the latest version of ActivePivot.
It’s my pleasure to announce that ActiveViam and Calypso Technology have partnered to embed our product ActivePivot within the Calypso offering.
I’m particularly happy about this partnership because I feel that Calypso and ActiveViam have much in common. 20 years ago, Calypso created a high-volume transaction system written entirely in Java, much to the skepticism of the rest of the finance software industry. 10 years later we faced the same skepticism when we set out to write in Java too our own high-volume analytics platform, but we overcame and now both companies have become widely recognized in their respective fields for their technological excellence.
This coming April, we will be at Devoxx Paris once again for a presentation (in French) titled “Java 9 à la poursuite des grands heaps”.
Romain Colle, head of the ActivePivot and ActiveMonitor R&D team at ActiveViam, will present how ActiveViam partnered with the Java team at oracle to greatly improve the G1 garbage collection algorithm in Java 9. We will also detail how these innovations enabled us to run an actual, functioning Java application on several TB of memory. Read more
This blog explores new possibilities for in-memory analytics in Azure. We fire on demand a cluster of 128 G5 instances and load in memory a 40TiB dataset, right from blob storage. The ActiveViam analytical platform puts those 4,096 cores and 60TiB of RAM into the hands of business users. Read more
We’ve made a video of the presentation that was delivered originally on the JavaOne main stage in 2016 by Antoine Chambille, our director of R&D and Bernard Traversat, VP of Software Development for the Java SE Platform at Oracle. For this recording, Amir Javanshir, Principal Software Engineer at Oracle, has replaced Mr. Traversat.
A few thoughts after a conference dedicated to the FRTB
Last week I took part in the 4th “Impact of Fundamental Review of the Trading Book” conference in London, and I would like to share with you some feedback and insight we gathered on this occasion. The conference was well attended by European and Japanese banks, with high-level executives and engineers from risk management and modelling teams. American banks however were conspicuously absent.
